Do you buy it?
As a woman fire fighter,
you need to live with a roommate, a woman of course, from now on.
A woman firefighter was raped by a drunken colleague on November 1st, 2015 in Taichung in Taiwan.

A woman firefighter was raped by a drunken colleague on November 1st, 2015 in Taichung in Taiwan.
How???
The rapist texted her some
dirty messages, something like orgy
or lust. She didn’t know and didn’t read because she left her cell phone in her office. She was asleep in one
of the on-duty rooms. He had access to her room with a master key.
Why did he have that master key?
It was because he was the one in charge, a captain of that squad of fifteen firefighters.
The chief of fire
department of Taichung announced yesterday that a woman firefighter needs a
roommate to protect each other!
The funny but very uncomfortable feeling is that there hasn’t been one in power, who has criticized about this ridiculous solution to this incident and the so-called protective idea towards female firefighters. Should our woman presidential candidate say something about this? What about those legislative candidates?
It’s seemed a
trivial thing which just happened and should recover itself from whatever soon.
Who bothers?
So, a woman
firefighter should be punished for that – no more a single room to enjoy being alone
and to do what she likes. She needs to learn to share and be with another
woman, and the worst is that she might not be recruited if there are all male
firefighters in a squad. Too inconvenient!
Do you think it is
still okay with you and fair enough for a woman firefighter?
As a woman fighter, you say:
What is the point
to have a roommate?
What if I need to
get some hours of sleep and my roommate wants to do something else?
What if my roommate
and I have different shifts – that she is on duty and I’m off, and vice versa?
We’re still on our own!
Am I not a mature
woman, independent and well-built?
Am I not physically
strong and brave enough like those male colleagues?
Am I not ready to protect
others when there is a fire no matter where I am and when it is?
Am I irresponsible
to act like a life saver if I am a bit exaggerative?
Am I accused of being
as cute as a bug's ear?
Am I the one to
blame if I look luminous and attractive?
What if I am
criticized behind my back when I am not in decent shape?
What if other male
colleagues are dancing with the music from the jukebox?Should I sit still? Or who am I going to seduce?
Am I supposed to start
wearing a tawdry dress if not a
uniform, and flip-flops like
other guys? Or should I be old?
Now

Now
The rapist is to meet his doom after
he committed such a crime. He is suspendedfrom his duties.
All in all, it is
he, a lawbreaker, who lacked of self-discipline and respect. He was left no choice but
destined to take the consequences he brought to himself. It is not his other male
colleagues to apologize.
Hopefully, the
victim of this event could gain back the mental strength after such an injury and
be gradually healed even thought we know it takes a longer time than one can
imagine and the terrible memories do come back alive like endless nightmares.
However, it is definitely
not a woman firefighter who needs that protection and then shares a room with
another woman. It is not a protection, but a brutal punishment.
